Terms of Service

Last updated: 16 October 2026

1. About these terms

These terms apply to the Placebo API Chrome extension, your account and the paid plans (together, the "Service"). The Service is provided by Individual Entrepreneur Denis Okunev ("we" or "us"). By installing the extension or creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you use the Service for your employer, you confirm you may accept them on its behalf.

2. The Service

Placebo API is a developer tool that changes how Chrome handles network requests on pages you visit: it can override responses, block requests or redirect them, according to rules you create. Rules are stored in your browser.

3. Who can use it

You must be at least 16, or the age of digital consent where you live if that's higher. To buy a paid plan you must be an adult or have the permission of a parent or guardian. Don't use the Service if you're subject to sanctions that prohibit it.

4. Accounts

You can use the extension without an account, with smaller limits. To create an account you need a valid email address you control. Keep access to it secure: anyone who can read your email can sign in to your account. One account is for one person.

5. Plans and limits

Each plan allows a number of rules and a number of rules active at the same time, as shown on the pricing page. We may change the limits of the free plan and of use without an account. A paid plan keeps the limits you bought until the end of the period you've paid for.

6. Paid plans and billing

7. Acceptable use

Use the Service only for lawful purposes and only on websites and applications you're allowed to test. In particular, don't use it to:

8. Your rules

Your rules and their content are yours. They stay on your device, so you're responsible for keeping copies; use Export in the extension for backups. Don't put secrets in rules (see the Privacy Policy).

9. Our software

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the extension under these terms. We keep all rights in the software, the Placebo API name and the website. Open-source components included in the extension stay under their own licences. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without any obligation to you.

10. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service running, but we don't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may improve or change features. If we stop offering a paid plan, we'll refund the unused part of any prepaid period.

11. Disclaimer

The Service is a development tool. It changes how web pages behave by design, and rules can make sites behave unexpectedly. Except as required by law, the Service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. If you're a consumer in the EU or UK, you keep your statutory rights for digital content and services that don't conform to the contract.

12. Liability

We're fully liable for intent, gross negligence, fraud, and death or personal injury caused by our negligence. Otherwise, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD 50. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

13. Ending use

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time in the extension. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, after telling you and giving you a chance to fix it, unless the breach is serious. If we close your account for any reason other than your breach, we'll refund the unused part of a prepaid period. When an account ends, the extension keeps working with the limits for use without an account, and your rules stay in your browser.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example because of new features, changes in the law or for security. For significant changes, we'll email account holders at least 30 days before they apply. If a change is to your disadvantage and you cancel before it applies, we'll refund the unused part of a prepaid period.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Georgia. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and can bring claims in its courts.

16. General

If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest still applies. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy, are the whole agreement between us. We may transfer them to a business that takes over the Service; your consumer rights aren't affected. We send notices by email to the address on your account. These terms are written in English, and the English version applies.
